Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office Receives New Body Armor

The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office received a grant for $3,500. It was funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance for 14 Premier Durus 8000 Body Armor Systems. The total costs of the vests were $5,447.00. The county funded $1,947.00 and the grant covered $3,500.

I would like to thank the Poinsett County Quorum Court for approving the $1,947 that the grant did not fund. For more information on how this body armor works, please click on this following link. Deputy E.J. Roach is demonstrating how the body armor is worn in a situation where extra body armor is needed. The deputies will continue to wear their body armor under their uniform shirt.
