Arson and Burglary Arrest 

On August 3, 2017, Joseph McGill, 21 years of age from Harrisburg, was arrested on the following charges.

  1.          2 Counts of Burglary (Felony) 5-39-201
  2.          Arson (Felony) 5-38-301
  3.          2 Counts of Theft of Property (Felony) 5-36-103
  4.          Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons (Felony) 5-73-103 

On July 21, 2017, McGill took a Black Chevy Blazer from a residence in Jonesboro without permission. McGill drove the vehicle to Poinsett County where he abandoned the vehicle around the area of Hwy. 163 and Hwy. 158.

In the morning hours on July 22, 2017, McGill burglarized and set on fire a house located at 13242 Hwy. 163 N. While at the house, McGill stole numerous items of Jewelry and two handguns. The home owner’s vehicle was stolen by McGill and later discovered in a pond off of Raceway Road. 

Around 4:30 pm on July 22, 2017, Investigators learned of a second home that had been burglarized by McGill located on Raceway Road. Another firearm was stolen by McGill at this residence. 

McGill has been incarcerated in our facility since July 22, 2017 for a Felony Parole hold. Judge Ron Hunter set a $100,000 bond. McGill will be taken for a Probable Cause hearing on August 4, 2017 for the new charges.
