Lepanto Shooting 

On December 10, 2017 at approximately 9:54 am, the Poinsett County Dispatch Center received a 911 call stating that someone had been shot at an apartment on Mills Circle in Lepanto. Lepanto Police Officers responded to the call and found 19 year old Kelan Jenkins of Lepanto shot. Riverside Ambulance responded to the scene and transported Jenkins to Regional One in Memphis. Jenkins was listed in critical condition as of late yesterday afternoon. 

Lepanto Police Department requested the assistance of the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the scene and immediately began canvasing the area for witnesses and possible suspects. Due to the complexity of this incident, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Arkansas State Police was requested to assist with processing the scene and interviewing potential witnesses and persons of interest. 

The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, and Lepanto Police Department are currently investigating this incident. This release will be updated as more information becomes available.
