Father of Murdered Infant Arrested

On May 29, 2018, the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police executed a search warrant at 1021 Ritch Road in Cash, AR as part of an investigation that involved the murder of 1 month old Caseleigh. Due to the conditions inside the house, it was determined by us that the residence was not a safe place to live for the 3 other children who were living in the house. The Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division and the Arkansas Department of Human Services were called and responded that day. They took custody of the children.

After a thorough investigation was completed, an affidavit was filed on June 27th and a warrant for 4 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the 3rd Degree was issued on Cody McKellar. He was arrested on the evening hours of July 3rd. He was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Cody McKellar’s brother, Jason Lee McKellar, was also in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Both men were arrested and transported to the Poinsett County Detention Center.
