Jury Duty Scam 

The Poinsett County Sheriff's Office received a complaint today involving a new scam in our area. The complainant stated she received a call from 870-955-5859. The man on the phone identified himself as Lt. Carter with the sheriff's office. He continued to say the complainant had missed jury duty back in June and as of June 30th a warrant had been issued for her arrest. The man said she could prevent being arrested if she bonded over the phone, which would require her to put cash on a money card.

This is a scam. The Poinsett County Sheriff's Office or any other law enforcement agency will never call you and request money over the phone. If you receive a phone call like this or any call you believe is a scam, please call (870) 578-2116 and report it.
