On December 26, 2018, the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a person who witnessed a person on Highway 214 and Henderson Lane cutting the throats of several puppies and throwing them in to the ditch. Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office investigators immediately started investigating the incident. Based on evidence and a statement from the witness, it is determined that Jerry D. Miller, 58, of Trumann is the person the witness saw committing the act.

An Arrest Warrant for Jerry D. Miller, 58, of Trumann was issued for 5 Counts of Aggravated Cruelty to a Dog, one count for each puppy on December 27, 2019. Miller was located and arrested.

With the help of the Harrisburg Animal Shelter, Trumann Animal Shelter, and the North East Arkansas Humane Society, the puppies killed were properly buried and all dogs remaining at the Miller’s residence were removed.

Jerry D. Miller, 58, of Trumann, is charged with 5 Counts of Aggravated Cruelty to a Dog.
