Body Found North of Weiner

Buddy Cantrell turned himself in without incident on 4/9/21. Scott and Hutchens taken for a Probable Cause Hearing on the same day. Each were given a $35,000 bond.

On 03/31/2021, the Cross County Sheriff's Office received information that a man was missing from Cherry Valley, AR. After an investigation was conducted, it was discovered that an incident occurred in Poinsett County that involved the person who was reported missing in Cross County. The Cross County Sheriff's Office contacted the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office for assistance in the case since the incident occurred in Poinsett County. A search warrant was executed at a residence outside of Weiner on 04/06/21. After the search warrant was executed, the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office, Cross County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Craighead County Sheriff's Office, and the Arkansas Game and Fish started a search of the missing person.


On 04/08/2021 at approximately 5:59 pm, a body was recovered in a ditch North of Weiner by the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office. The body is being sent to the Arkansas Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.


The following were arrested for involvement in this case.

Anthony Scott Mosley - 45 of Harrisburg, AR.

1. Abuse of a Corpse - 5-60-101 (a)(1)
2. Tampering with Evidence - 5-53-111 (a)(b)(1)

Gerald Eugene Hutchens - 55 of Weiner, AR

We are currently requesting assistance from the public in locating Buddy Cantrell. Cantrell is 30 years old and from Harrisburg, AR. We have Warrants of Arrest for the following charges on Cantrell.

1.Abuse of a Corpse - 5-60-101 (a)(1)

2.Tampering with Evidence - 5-53-111 (a)(b)(1)

3.Felony Theft of Property Greater Than $1,000 but less than $5,000 - 5-36-103 (a)(1)(b)(3)(A)
